Day 1

Arrive into Kigali international airport and visit the Kigali genocide memorial before you travel to Akagera National Park via helicopter or road transfer. Overnight at Magashi camp situated a productive and phenomenal diverse overlooking lake Rwanyakazinga. Accommodation at Magashi is in six spacious and airy tented guests rooms offering uninterrupted view over lake Rwanyakazinga, while the main area comprises of luxurious lounge, dining and bar area, wine cellar and pool, as well as an expansive viewing deck with convivial fireplace . The architecture and interior pay homage to traditional Rwandan culture

Day 2&3

Guests are able to view a range of wildlife on exactly guided game drives, walks and boating trips including leopard lion buffaloes, zebra spotted hyenas topi and more. Akagera also boasts almost 500 species of birds including the prehistoric looking Shoebill and the near endemic red faced barbet.

Day 4

Return to Kigali via helicopter or by road transfer for your onward three hours road transfer to Volcano National Park. The area around Bisate welcomes you with dramatic views of the peaks of the volcanoes Bisoke, Karisimbi and Mikeno rearing up through the alpine forests of the nearby Volcano National Park. Six sumptuous en suite  rooms maximize comfort, warmth and views while retaining environmental principles and reflecting the culture of surrounding rural Rwanda.

Day 5 & 6

Gorilla trekking takes place from Volcano National Park headquarters where guests are allocated one of the twelve habituated gorilla groups to visit for an hour. After a briefing from the park rangers, the time of the trek varies depending on which gorilla group is being visited -from 45 minutes to a few hours. Trekking is at a high altitude but is well worth it  in order to spend time in the company of mountain gorillas. Exploring the area includes community visits, birding, golden monkey tracking and help reforest the area as well as visits (time permitting) to Ibyiwacu culture village, the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burera and Dian Fossey’s grave.

Day 7

Depart Volcano National Park via a three hour road transfer for Kigali International Airport and your onward travel arrangements.
