Day 1: Arusha

Arrive at the Kilimanjaro Airport, you will be welcomed by a member of the team who will transfer you by car to Arusha Coffee Lodge.  Nestled between the lofty peaks of Mt. Meru and Kilimanjaro, this charming town is known as the safari capital of Tanzania.

If you love coffee, or simply beautiful open spaces go on an informative Coffee Tour exploring the history of the bean and the process of nurturing, harvesting, drying and roasting a variety of different blends. For coffee connoisseurs, this is a wonderful experience.

Day 2-4: Katavi National Park

You will be transferred by car to Arusha Airport where you will board your scheduled light aircraft flight to Ikuu airstrip in the Katavi National Park

This remote park, isolated in the far west of Tanzania is a destination few people have been lucky enough to visit. Due to this, it feels magically untouched and Chada Katavi sits in the midst of this exceptionally raw, wild terrain

Strap on your walking boots for a fascinating short guided nature walk with your knowledgeable guide

Early  morning game drive through this remote park with a scrumptious picnic lunch. The park is an abundance of wildlife, and massive herds of elephant and buffalo congregate on the floodplains. In the dry season massive hippo populations abound here, and reveal a spectacular sight as over 200 large grey bodies flop together in liquid pools, and baby hippos thoroughly enjoy bobbing on their mom’s back, and playing hide and seek under the water

Choose to stay in a fly camp for a night out in the wilderness, under the stars

During the wet season take a drive along the river and seasonal lakes which provide plenty of sustenance for the many animals in the park. The lakes Chada and Katavi are particularly popular with crocodile and hippo, with the area supporting the densest concentrations of these animals in all of Tanzania

Day 5-8 : Mahale Mountains National Park

Take a scheduled light aircraft flight to Mahale National Park. Created to protect dense populations of chimpanzees the lush forests of the Mahale Mountains National Park are home to these beautiful creatures

You will be welcomed by a representative and your guide from Greystoke Mahale. After a delicious lunch on your boat, start your 90 minute long boat transfer along the shores of Lake Tanganyika to the lodge. Greystoke Mahale is located in the chimp-inhabited forests of the Mahale Mountains in West Tanzania

Head off on daily treks to discover incredible primates. Guided by trackers and scouts you will be divided into groups of six and hike the narrow mountain trails to find them. Once they have been located cherish your hour with them as they play together, irritate each other, frolic, eat, and engage with each other.   Housing Tanzania’s densest population of primates, including yellow baboon, red colobus, red-tailed, vervet monkeys and playful chimpanzees in leafy trees make sure to look out for the different colours and markings as you hike through tangled foliage

Splash in the water and enjoy numerous activities including snorkelling, fishing and kayaking. Peer into the clear depths as over 250 species of colourful cychlids glide by

Head out on the dhow for an evening fishing cruise and sundowners on the lake

Day 9: Arusha

Have an early morning paddle into the lake or a cup of coffee watching the peaceful lake before breakfast.  After breakfast you will be transferred by car back to Ikuu airstrip for your scheduled light aircraft flight to Arusha Airport

Day 1

Arrive into Kigali international airport and visit the Kigali genocide memorial before you travel to Akagera National Park via helicopter or road transfer. Overnight at Magashi camp situated a productive and phenomenal diverse overlooking lake Rwanyakazinga. Accommodation at Magashi is in six spacious and airy tented guests rooms offering uninterrupted view over lake Rwanyakazinga, while the main area comprises of luxurious lounge, dining and bar area, wine cellar and pool, as well as an expansive viewing deck with convivial fireplace . The architecture and interior pay homage to traditional Rwandan culture

Day 2&3

Guests are able to view a range of wildlife on exactly guided game drives, walks and boating trips including leopard lion buffaloes, zebra spotted hyenas topi and more. Akagera also boasts almost 500 species of birds including the prehistoric looking Shoebill and the near endemic red faced barbet.

Day 4

Return to Kigali via helicopter or by road transfer for your onward three hours road transfer to Volcano National Park. The area around Bisate welcomes you with dramatic views of the peaks of the volcanoes Bisoke, Karisimbi and Mikeno rearing up through the alpine forests of the nearby Volcano National Park. Six sumptuous en suite  rooms maximize comfort, warmth and views while retaining environmental principles and reflecting the culture of surrounding rural Rwanda.

Day 5 & 6

Gorilla trekking takes place from Volcano National Park headquarters where guests are allocated one of the twelve habituated gorilla groups to visit for an hour. After a briefing from the park rangers, the time of the trek varies depending on which gorilla group is being visited -from 45 minutes to a few hours. Trekking is at a high altitude but is well worth it  in order to spend time in the company of mountain gorillas. Exploring the area includes community visits, birding, golden monkey tracking and help reforest the area as well as visits (time permitting) to Ibyiwacu culture village, the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burera and Dian Fossey’s grave.

Day 7

Depart Volcano National Park via a three hour road transfer for Kigali International Airport and your onward travel arrangements.

Day 1: Arusha

Arrive in Kilimanjaro , Tanzania. You will be warmly welcomed by a BAT member and transfer to Legendary Lodge. Arrive into the private VIP customs area at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Legendary lodge is set in lush tropical gardens on a working coffee farm just outside Arusha, features 10 beautiful garden cottages and 2 family cottages. Designed with a unique blend of African arts and crafts that combined with old colonial-style luxury.

Day 2 &3: Tarangire National Park

You will be met by your guide for your 2-3 hour drive in your  4 x 4 safari vehicle to Tarangire National Park Once checked in at the gate, you will continue on a leisurely game drive to the lodge.

Take a game drive through the Tarangire River, the only source of water in the area. This area also offers excellent sightings of animals as it attracts wildlife in the area.

Day 4 & 6 Ngorongoro Crater

Take a game drive through Tarangire National Park. Exit point on the western border of park and drive through the rural villages of rich lands of Africa, to get an understanding for the agricultural practices and way of life for various tribes that have settled here for generations and getting a feel for the culture on the lake shore.

Enter Manyara National Park once checked in at the gate, you will continue through the southern end. Drive through the lakeshore, where you can admire seasonal pink flocks of flamingos. Enjoy your lunch at the hot springs a unique geological feature found nowhere else in Tanzania. 

 After exiting the par in the Northern gate proceed through the escarpment towards the misty Crater highlands. Enjoy the productive farming area you drive through and stop at a local vegetable farm if you would like to on route to the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge.

For the next 2 days enjoy one of the natural riches of the Crater and unique architecture it’s easy to believe that you have entered a realm of pure fantasy. Enjoy your evening at the lodge, with the spectacular view of this World Heritage Site.

Day 6 & 10 Serengeti National Park

Your adventure now takes you to Serengeti. If culture and history are your interest, make a detour to Oldupai Gorge and Shifting Sands, where the Mary Leakey’s made fascinating paleoanthropological discoveries.

After your fascinating discoveries you will either make your way to the Southern Serengeti, Central or to the Northern Eastern tip to the Klein’s Camp concession.

Here with  incredibly dense population of wildlife and never-ending rolling plains, you can enjoy all the sensational sightings to yourself. 

With BAT twice daily unlimited game drives, enjoy the African sunrise and sundowns like never before. 

Experience the breath-taking beauty of the Serengeti National Park on a once-in-a-lifetime hot air balloon flight. At dawn, rise as the sun greets the day or exchanging your vehicle for your walking shoes for a walking safaris. Enjoy dinner under the stars and stories around the camp fire.

Day 10: Departure

Today we wave a farewell. After breakfast, you will drive to the airstrip where you will take a flight back to Kilimanjaro International Airport, where you will board your flight home.

Day 1: Kigali

Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport a BAT guide will meet you and drive you to your hotel. Kigali is both cultural, historical and architectural and a perfect starting point for an unforgettable gorilla adventure – one of Africa’s most fascinating wilderness experiences. Enjoy an optional Cultural or Historical tour of Kigali that includes sensory stops at the city market, a well organised, whirling space selling a variety of vegetables, fruits, cereals, wood, home products, textiles and handcrafted goods. (This activity is at your own expense)
Relax and recoup before your journey to Volcanoes National Park the following day.

Day 2-3: Volcanoes National Park

This morning you will be picked from your hotel and driven to Bisate Lodge at Volcanoes National Park. Volcanoes National Park (Parc National des Volcans) rainforested slopes of the magnificent Virunga Mountain range. Rare mountain gorillas and golden monkeys reside on the lush slopes of Rwanda’s Virungas. Track a family of Mountain gorillas through their natural habitat, or follow equally rare golden monkey troops as they frolic through the trees. Enjoy stunning views of the magnificent Virunga volcanoes. Take a hike up to the grave of renowned primatologist and gorilla activist, Dian Fossey. Explore local communities.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater

After an early morning breakfast you will start driving to Kigali where you will connect to your flight to Manyara airstrip in Tanzania. Here you will be welcomed by your BAT guide to Ngorongoro Crater Lodge. One of the most famous African landscapes. With the natural riches of the Crater and unique architecture it’s easy to believe that you have entered a realm of pure fantasy. Enjoy your evening at the lodge, with the spectacular view of this World Heritage Site.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater

On this day you head in to Ngorongoro Crater floor, famed as an ancient caldera and unique ecosystem encompassing teaming game and interesting interactions. Spend a day in the Crater, looking for big tuskers and the endangered Rhino, or if you feel like stretching your legs, do a Crater Rim walk or book a full day Empakai Hike. We highly recommend participating in a KOPELion conservation experience, or meet the lion guardians that work with communities in this area. Be sure to book this activity in advance. Watch the sun setting over the Crater rim to the powerful sights and sounds of Maasai warriors.

Day 6: Zanzibar

Leave the lodge early for your drive to Manyara airstrip to connect to your flight to Zanzibar. On your arrival in Zanzibar, you will be welcomed by your BAT driver who will take you to Muyuni Beach – where a boat will be waiting for a short 10 minute hop to Mnemba Island. A paradise, your home for the next four days.

Day 7-9: Zanzibar

Unwind in absolute tranquillity and do as little or as much as you would like to. We recommend a private yoga class or wellness treatment in the privacy of your banda. Explore the spectacular underwater world and go diving or snorkelling. Sail into the billowing orange hued sky on a sunset dhow cruise. Read a book in your beach banda or simply gaze at in the shimmering ocean. Enjoy a spot of retail therapy and peruse beautiful items in the Beach Shop.

Day 10: Departure

Wave a fond farewell as you depart your island paradise. After breakfast hop on a boat to Muyuni beach where your driver will be waiting to take you to Zanzibar International Airport for your international flights onward.

Day 1: Arusha

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport you will be met by a member of the our team who will transfer you by road to Arusha Coffee Lodge . This attractive little town is situated beneath the towering peaks of Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro. Visit the extraordinary social enterprise Shanga that employs disabled people from the community to create export quality recycled glass products. Go on the exciting and informative ‘Coffee Tour’, weaving in and out of the evergreen coffee trees, the coffee guide explains how the bean is nurtured, harvested, dried and finally roasted to produce a myriad of different blends that sate the taste of the most ardent of coffee connoisseurs

Day 2-3: Lake Manyara National Park

You will be transferred by car to Arusha Airport for your scheduled flight to the Manyara Airstrip or simply drive from Arusha to the park gate. On arrival, you will be met by a representative from BAT who will take you on a game drive to the lodge. Take the opportunity to relax after your long flight and enjoy the splendid lodge, the sparkling swimming pool and even treat yourself to a Healing Earth Wellness Treatment in your room or in the massage sala nestled in the towering shady trees. Take an evening drive, and after sundowners at the lake. Go on an exciting game drive, the park is famous for its unusual tree-climbing lions and the elephant herds it protects. Spoil yourself by either waking up early for the sunrise or taking time to see the golden peach hue over a colourful sundowner cocktail at the lakeshore. Take a cycle or walk in the local community and experience a bit of local life

Day 4-5: Ngorongoro Crater

Take a scenic drive to Ngorongoro Crater Lodge. The Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area, is home to more than 30 000 protected animals. It is an area of spectacular beauty and excellent game viewing, a truly unique safari destination in Africa. The Ngorongoro Crater, once a gigantic volcano, is the largest intact caldera in the world. Today, long since having collapsed and eroded, it is an extensive highland area with the famous 600 metre deep Ngorongoro Crater as its focal point.Wake up early to the views of the Crater, and after breakfast head off for a full day game drive on the Crater floor, abundant with wildlife -view Black rhino that are protected within its rim, giant tusked elephants, big-maned lions stalking the grasslands, and bright pink flamingos crowding the soda lakes. Take a stroll on the rim of the Crater with your guide and relish sundowners with a sensational view. In the evening, appreciate sublime wine at the Winestore, where a special tasting can be arranged

Day 6-8: Serengeti National Park

After a delicious breakfast check out from the lodge then embark on a five hours down to the plains of Serengeti – either &BEYOND Serengeti Under Canvas, Namiri Camp or One Nature. The Serengeti National Park, meaning “endless plains” in the Masai language, is undoubtedly one of the world’s most celebrated Wilderness areas and is an ongoing source of inspiration to writers, researchers,filmmakers and photographers.

Your Camp Manager and Guide will help you plan your few days in the Serengeti.  Relish twice-daily game drives, with sunrise and sundowner stops. Or take a full day game drive and scrumptious picnic, so that you can spend the entire day out. At &BEYOND Serengeti Under Canvas, Namiri Camp or One Nature experience nature in a real and authentic manner. Roam its sprawling plains on exhilarating game drives or hop into a hot-air balloon ride for an once-in-a-lifetime wilderness adventure. Day 9: Departure – End of safari adventure
